Thelonious, Mailer, Vonnegut, Huxley, Genet, King Tubby, Spector, Jerry Lee … wearing your heroes right on your sleeve is something of a no-no in the realm of cynical hipness, but when those influences are spot-on, why not flaunt them? That seems to be the approach taken by Mr. Hare for his Spring/Summer 2012 collection, given that many of the shoes bear the names of these literary lions and musical giants.
In his words: “Mr. Hare’s SS12 collection August is the final paragraph in the first chapter of the Mr. Hare story. August is the application of Mr. Hare’s principles of male pedal elegance applied to casual high summer shoes.” We love imagining Hellfire Jerry Lee Lewis pushing his flaming piano over a seaside cliff in the Jerry Lee model pictured above, and are definitely ready to get a look at that second chapter.
